A feeling of being thankful or grateful in return to any act of kindness can be termed as Gratitude. Feeling grateful for being alive and healthy has the ability to provide a sense of happiness and joy within you. However, it can start showing positive effects in your life only with consistent practice.
There’s no happier person than a truly thankful, content person. – Joyce Meyer
Here are a few ways to express an attitude of gratitude:
1. GRATITUDE JAR:
Have an empty jar on your desk along with a pen and colorful papers. Whether it is somebody showing kindness towards you or even your smallest accomplishments, just write those moments down and put it in the jar. These small paper pieces can be retrieved from the jar anytime you find yourself feeling low, thereby right away boosting your energy levels and positivity. I see this practice as reserving joyful surprises for our future selves and thus started doing it myself too!
2. START A GRATITUDE JOURNAL:
You can start writing in a journal where you have to jot down 5 things you are grateful for or proud of. Make sure you write different things every day. In fact, it can completely change the way you look at life by writing different things that you are grateful for, for 60 days at least (I spoke about this in the last blog as well). This practice seems difficult and will also force you to think a lot, but it feels magical when you get to know of so many petty things that are actually worth appreciating. Start small and gradually you can add stories to it to make it more empowering.
3. ACKNOWLEDGE AND EXPRESS:
Acknowledge the efforts of people who support or inspire you and express it out to them, because after all, who doesn’t feel great when appreciated! In fact, people who express thankfulness regularly have shown enhanced life satisfaction and they also seem to deal with stress in a better way!
Every day won’t turn out the way we want it to, but cultivating these impactful habits of gratitude can keep the negative emotions at bay. So, stop the unwanted criticism and start appreciating, and, then be ready to witness a good chunk of positive things coming your way.
Hope you found it helpful :)
