“Less is more.” You would have probably heard of this phrase earlier. But does that ring a bell? Well, it’s the core of “Minimalism.”
Usually, it so happens that we fall in the cycle of buying certain random things which we either never use or misconstrue them to bring happiness into our lives, where actually these extra things only create clutter around us. Sounds familiar? Probably yes, because we all have been there. It hampers us from living our best life. Therefore, it’s always a great idea to not carry anything that you no longer need, whether it is in your pocket, home, or heart.
Our smartness lies in realizing this never-ending vicious cycle and coming out of it, which would eventually help us find real happiness out there, which matters at the end of the day. It is one of the effective ways to develop a minimalistic approach to life. But it’s not all. Minimalism is more of changing one’s mindset to Mindful living.
But, why should you possibly be changing your mindset or develop a minimalistic approach? It is simply because it’s high time we change our misconception of finding happiness, containment, and satisfaction in the material things of life. As one thing gets fulfilled, we move on to achieving other things time and again in search of so-called “happiness,” but in essence, that is not what we would need in the long run.
Remember that - Happiness is a state of BEING and not HAVING. Minimalism actually should be practiced to reduce stress, anxiety from our lives by concentrating on the things that really matter to us and bring us joy. You’ll be astonished to realize how little you need to actually be happy 😊
Less of stress and abundance of joy. Yes, this is what minimalism is all about.
The best part about choosing to live a minimalistic lifestyle is that there are NO RULES whatsoever to be followed. We can make our own rules to go about the idea of living life intentionally.
If you resonate with the above-said things and would like to drift your mindset towards minimalistic living, these small but practical tips and tricks might help:
You can start out by buying things that are of multi-purpose nature. This will save you a lot of physical space as well as money.
When it’s about shopping, enter the store with a pre-decided mindset about what exactly you want to buy. Randomly entering the stores without any planning promotes impulsive shopping.
Start buying clothes that are versatile in nature by which you can create various looks with minimal belongings. This will also reduce the hassle of picking out clothes in our busy morning hours when we usually run late.
Besides these tips, you can start off your minimalism journey by asking yourself one question: What are those two things that really really matter to you now? Whatever those two things are, let them be and never give them up or throw them away. These are indeed, the things that bring you joy and happiness.
BONUS TIP: Do not overwhelm yourself by throwing away a bunch of things at once to become a minimalist and regret later about your actions. It’s more of an intentional and gradual removal of things/people/habits from your lives.
I really hope you liked my views on minimalism and if you could take away even a single line of inspiration from it, then that makes me super happy :)
